Dear Victoria Eagle Players and Supporters:
On behalf of Major League Baseball, I wish the Victoria Eagles all the best in 2013.
Entering its fourth year, the Eagles' program has become a vital contributor to the local and the provincial baseball communities. In 2012, Eagles players demonstrated the high quality of Victoria baseball players. Both Bantam AAA Eagles teams made the provincial playoffs. The Midget AAA Eagles placed first in their regular season play. The Premier Eagles qualified for the BCPBL playoffs in just their third season of play. In addition, the Premier Eagles carried on the team’s tradition of sending players to the BC Selects team that represents this province in the Canada Cup.
The Eagles program reflects a deep commitment by the Eagles to developing young baseball players so that they are prepared to play at either the college or professional level. I have been a major league scout for over 20 years and I have witnessed how much high school players benefit from a high performance program that prioritizes their mental and physical development.
I cannot emphasize too much the role played by your Bantam, Junior Premier Midget AAA and Premier coaching staffs. Their expertise, dedication and hard, work make it possible for your athletes to develop their baseball skills and their leadership helps shape their character. The effort and sacrifice of the volunteers and the parent who help behind the scenes with organization and fund raising must also be recognized.
Finally, the critical financial contribution of individuals and businesses must be acknowledged. I urge everyone to support the firms that have contributed to Eagles Baseball.
Spring is finally here and I am looking forward to seeing all of you at the ballpark in 2013. Play ball!
